Miley Cyrus’ new diamond sparks a prize mystery frenzy

Miley Cyrus surprised fans when she stepped onto the red carpet at the “Avatar: Fire and Ash” premiere in a bold new ring that immediately sparked engagement buzz.

A day later, a source confirmed that she and Max Morando are officially engaged, making the eye-catching diamond the center of attention.

The ring’s design, the large stone and its surprising price point have now become part of the growing story behind Cyrus’ big moment.

Cyrus showed off a striking gold engagement ring on the red carpet recently, where she appeared with Morando.

Since the outing, speculation surrounding the couple’s relationship and the beautiful jewelry has been doing the rounds.

On Tuesday, Francesca Simons, who represents jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche, confirmed PEOPLE that the piece is a custom creation with a cushion-cut stone set on a thick 14-karat gold band.

The unique East-West frame style fits the modern look that Cyrus often embraces.

Jewelry experts have also weighed in on the ring’s value, with some estimating it could cost up to $450,000, depending on its details.

Others have placed it lower, explaining that the clarity of the stone and whether it is mined or lab-grown can change the price dramatically.

Miley Cyrus’ engagement ring has become a topic of debate among jewelry professionals because of its unusual design and the different ways to measure its value.

Blue Nile’s Daniela Tarantino estimates the ring could be worth between $300,000 and $450,000.

“This engagement ring is a chunky East-West gold ring – a modern and chic trend we’re seeing in the wedding industry,” Tarantino said in a press email. “We believe the ring is approximately a 4-5 carat modified cushion that costs around $300,000 to $450,000.”

Reyne Hirsch, a former Antiques Roadshow appraiser, believes its retail value could fall closer to $150,000 to $250,000, depending on the stone’s “color and clarity.”

Kristy Cullinane, a diamond expert and co-founder of Plum Diamonds, also weighed in on the play, noting that the price could change even more.

“The diamond appears to be around 4 to 5 carats, and the estimated value of the ring would be $200,000+ for a mined diamond or $15,000 for a lab grown diamond,” she revealed.

Cyrus’ new engagement ring also highlights the long road she and Morando have traveled together.

They first sparked romance rumors in December 2021 after being spotted together backstage at her NBC holiday special.

In April 2022, their relationship appeared to be confirmed when they were photographed kissing in West Hollywood.

In a 2023 interview, Cyrus shared how they met, explaining that it started with a blind date.

She joked that she went on the date thinking the worst outcome would be to leave early.

The following year, the “Wrecking Ball” crooner discussed their age difference, saying it works because they “don’t just take life too seriously.”

She noted that Morando looked at life differently and joked that he even raised their dog using advice from Reddit.

In March 2024, a source revealed that the couple had moved in together and that Cyrus seemed calmer and more centered with him.

As Tops reported, Cyrus turned heads at the Hollywood premiere of “Avatar: Fire and Ash” when she appeared on the red carpet with Morando dressed to impress, flaunting the dazzling diamond ring on her left hand.

For the star-studded evening, the Grammy Award winner stepped out in a strapless black sequin mermaid gown that hugged her figure and flared out in a tousled train.

She paired the dramatic dress with sparkling accessories, including a diamond necklace and additional rings, but it was the chunky gold band with a large square diamond on her ring finger that stole the spotlight.

Matching her in a smart black suit and white shirt, Morando kept things classic as they posed together with smiles and affectionate gestures.

That ring was first seen in photos from her 33rd birthday earlier in November and took center stage again at the premiere.
