Didn’t watch Tron: Ares in the cinema last month? Well, count yourself among many people considering the film was a Disney one biggest box office flops in a while. But there’s good(?) news: If you’ve simply waited long enough to have no interest in watching the latest news (and possibly finalfor a very long time) Tron Film at home, the time is near.
This morning Disney confirmed it Tron: Ares would begin home release next week, with a digital release scheduled for the first week of December, followed by a physical release in early January 2026.
In addition to the film itself, the home releases will include a range of bonus behind-the-scenes content, including featurettes on the story of Tronwho developed the film’s light cycle sequences and is described as a “personal journey with Jared Leto.” Ares‘ creation, fitting given that Leto played an extremely important role in the revival Tron after a planned sequel To Tron: Legacy has stalled at Disney. Was that ultimately for the better or for the worse? Still kind of TBD.
Beyond the featurettes, the home releases will contain a trio of deleted scenes from the film, including one simply referred to as the “Lisberger Cameo” – referencing the original Tron Writer and director Steven Lisberger would make a cameo in the film at some point. Lisberger made a brief appearance in Tron: Legacy as Shaddix, one of the bartenders at the End of the Line Club, so it’s a shame that his continuation of that legacy, for lack of a better word, wasn’t continued in the theatrical cut of Ares. At least it will live on as a deleted scene!

Tron: Ares will be released digitally on December 2nd, the release on Blu-ray and DVD is scheduled for January 6th, 2026.
