Farrell, who shares James with his ex, Kim Bordenave, has now made the bold decision to put James in long -term care and revealed the painful reason why he does.

Colin Farrell shares why he wants James to be in a healthcare facility

Farrell recently spoke to Candis Magazine and revealed his and tablewood’s reason to want James to be in a healthcare facility.

He said Per Parade“It’s hard, some parents will say:“ I want to take care of my child myself. “And I respect it.”

Farrell continued, “But my fear would be … Imagine if I get a heart attack tomorrow, and, God forbids, James’ Mom, Kim, has a car accident and she has taken too – and then James is on his own. Then he is a department in the state and he goes there? We would have nothing to say in it.”

He also said, “so if he has a caregiver or a teacher or someone who does physiotherapy with him and they are not entirely committed and completely loving with him, he will only turn off.”

Colin Farrell reveals his plans for James

Farrell revealed that he and James’ mom want to “find somewhere we like where he can go now, while we are still alive and healthy, that we can go and visit, and we can take him out sometimes.”

He explained that they want James to find a place “where he can have full and happy life, where he feels connected.”

Farrell emphasized that James needs more than just care but deserves a more complete life that is rooted in society and daily connection.

He also talked about the importance of James participating in activities such as going out into the van every day, shopping together in the supermarket and doing things like visiting the beach, museums and films.

Although Farrell knows what type of plant will benefit James most, he admitted that it had been a struggle to find a suitable alternative for housing care.

He noted, “and when I realized that I thought: if I have these difficulties, what about all other families out there who have no close to the means I have?”

This insight Farrell got to remember why he founded a basis for meeting the needs of adults living with Angelman syndrome.

He explained, “I’ve always known that I wanted to do something about this, but until now I have just been really self -centered busy raising my two children.”

The actor, who also shares a 15-year-old son, Henry, with actress Alicja Bachleda-Curú, added, “but now they are running and I feel I have a little more room to do something. It’s early days for the foundation yet, so we’re still on baby steps.”

Farrell opens up about James state

Colin Farrell first opened a lot about his older son’s condition during an interview with People Magazine In August 2024.

He expressed his deep desire for the world to treat James with compassion. The proud father said, “I want the world to be kind to James. I want the world to treat him with kindness and respect.”

Farrell also said: “This is the first time I’ve talked about it, and obviously the only reason I speak is that I can’t ask James if he wants to do this.”

He explained that while talking to James as if he has full fluid and cognitive ability, the latter cannot clearly communicate his comfort with being in the limelight.

“I can’t discern a special answer from him whether he is comfortable with all this or not,” Farrell said, “so I have to make a call based on feeling the spirit of James and what kind of young man he is and the goodness he has in his heart.”

He also praised James for his determination and resilience and emphasized the daily challenges he faces. “James has worked so hard all his life, so hard,” shared Farrell. “Repetition, repetition, balance, his jerky walk.”

When he reflected on milestones like feeding himself, Farrell added, “when he started feeding himself for the first time, his face looks like a Jackson Pollock at the end of it. But he gets it in, he feeds beautifully.”
